To the parents of new team gymnasts: Welcome to the Twisters, Inc. booster club! As a member, there are many opportunities available to you to support your daughter’s gymnastics. For this purpose, each girl has a booster club “account”. It is out of this account that her expenses for meet competitions are paid. Meet competition expenses, include individual and team entry fees prior to the meet and the coaches’ expenses following the meet. Coaches are paid $50.00 per coaching session, mileage, and a $5.00 per diem for meals if none is provided at the meet. The average cost of a compulsory level meet this past year was $60.00. Sometimes your daughter may be entered for a meet but not compete due to injury or other circumstances. In this case, she will still be charged the entry fee (unless a refund is granted by the host club), but she will not be charged coaching expenses. Coaches’ expenses are divided among the girls who compete. Other expenses charged to your account will include an annual membership fee. The membership fee is $10.00, charged to each team family and paid at the beginning of each competition year. The State, Regional & National fee should come out of the competition account providing funds are available. It is a wonderful achievement for girls to qualify for these competitions. Because it is an honor, expenses for these meets are paid for by the booster club and are not charged to the girls who compete. For Levels 5, 6, and 7, the State Meet is the highest level of competition. Only girls who obtain a “qualifying score” during their regular meet season will complete the State. For levels 8, 9, and 10, a Regional competition follows for girls who score high enough at State, and for Levels 9 and 10, there is a National level competition for girls who score high enough at Regional. This monthly $28.00 State, Regional, and National fee is charged to all team girls (only one per family) that have competed at any time during a given season. If by the end of her season your daughter has NOT competed, her account will be credited this fee. Back to Top It is your responsibility as parents to keep adequate funds in your daughter’s account. Money needs to be available to register your daughter for her upcoming meets and to pay the coaches after meets are completed. Therefore, it is recommended that $100 balance needs to be in the account during her competition season. The goods news is that none of these competition expenses have to come our your own pocket! The booster club offers many possibilities for fund-raising. These include earning “meet credits” by working at the Peppermint Twist and/or Northern Lights (our host meets), participating in the wreath/poinsettia sale in the Fall or plant sale in the Spring, taste-testing, selling advertising for the meet programs, etc. Fund-raising opportunities are always explained at booster club parent meetings; flyers about them are also put in your daughter’s gym mailbox. Any fund-raising you do will be credited directly to the Booster competition account. Your daughter’s account statement will be updated periodically during the months she is competing, after each of our hosted meets, and at the end of the competitive year. You will be informed if your account has a negative balance. When you receive a statement, please review it carefully for any errors or discrepancies that you see. With thousands of entries to make during a single season, some mistakes are inevitable! Please call the treasurer with any questions or concerns you may have. The booster club treasurer at this time is Jim Ennis for the 2007-2008 fiscal year. |
